Kendre Miller start or sit: Week 5 fantasy football advice

The Saints are in full tank mode as they head into Week 5 with a 0-4 record. They’ll host the 1-3 Giants as slight favorites after their opponent lost Malik Nabers for the season. The question on a lot of fantasy footballers’ minds is if Alvin Kamara will end up being traded before the trade deadline this season. At this point he’s not going to help them rebuild, so getting anything for him would probably be worth it.

If they do plan on trading him and even if they don’t, they’ll want to see what they have in backup Kendre Miller. And it appears they are doing just that, as Miller’s usage has slowly increased. And last week he had 11 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown, while Kamara had 15 carries for 70 yards with four receptions for five yards.

This isn’t a situation where Miller is going to take over the lead back role from Kamara, but he is going to continue to mix in with him more and more as the team sees what he can do. And if Kamara does end up moving on, Miller would take over the starting role.

Below, we’ll go over Kendre Miller’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 5.

Fantasy Football analysis: Saints, RB, Kendre Miller

This season the Giants have given up the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs. They’ve allowed strong games from Jacory Croskey-Merritt (10-82-1), Javonte Williams (18-97-1, 6-33), and Omarion Hampton (12-128-1, 5-37). They’ve also allowed touchdowns to secondary backs, Miles Sanders and Kareem Hunt.

Miller scoring another touchdown on 8-12 touches is quite possible in a good matchup like this. Add in the fact that the Saints are actually favorites, which is not going to happen too often, and we should expect the game to be close and Kamara and Miller to run the ball often.

Start or sit in Week 5 PPR leagues?

Sit. Miller isn’t seeing much work through the air and I don’t expect him too with Kamara on the team. With that and his limited usage, I’d rather not play him in PPR leagues if I can help it. He does still have touchdown upside though, which makes him a flex play in tougher situations.

Start or sit in Week 5 standard leagues?

Start. I’d run Miller out in standard leagues as a RB3.Flex start.
